Abu the Desert Fox
The sun was beating down from the sky with anger and the sand reflected the suns anger back. In the distance Abu could see what looked like an oasis. But he knew the desert well and there was no oasis or water there. It was a trick sun would play on the poor desert animals. The sun tried to get the animals out of their burrows so it could torment and torture them.
Abu was smarter than that and stayed out looking out of his burrow. His long nose and big ears, only listening and looking from the entrance. He only had a few hours left before the sun would get tired and fall asleep behind the jebel. Then only then would the desert animals come out of their home. The sun got tired and went behi9nd the jebel to sleep. He had enough. The moon came out and looked at the desert. Abu saw the moon and the shadows it created in the moonlight. It looked like to Abu the shadows were dancing and playing amongst the sand dunes. He went out to follow the shadows, but as soon as he got to them. They ran away to the next dune.
Abu’s ears were great at night when he could see less. He could hear the kangaroo rat jumping across the sand. Abu could see it in the moonlight. He waited, waited and then he ran. The kangaroo rat left trail of sand behind as Abu tried to chase him. Suddenly the kangaroo rat disappeared into the ground. Abu sniffed around and started to dig into the ground, sand was everywhere in the air. Abu was losing patience and the moon was starting to feel sleepy and was lowering its head behind the jeebel. The sun was starting to wake. Abu had to give up and trotted off home feeling hungry for himself.
