My name is Cuddles. I belong to a special little person who has a loved one serving in the military in Iraq.

My story begins on the day I received my special mission. My instructions were clear and concise.

I was to keep a journal of my travels and report back. At the end of my mission I go straight to the arms of the child who needs me and fill that child with all the love of the soldiers in Iraq.

I was to travel to Iraq and visit with soldiers. Spread the word to all of them that their families love them. Give and receive hugs from everyone I come in contact with and fill everyone’s hearts with the love and comfort of home.

I am leaving the armory. I feel scared, but excited too. I’m on my way to the airport. I wish you were here to hold my hand!

That was a very long flight! I have arrived in Iraq and I feel very homesick. This all looks so different and it is HOT here! I am shedding like crazy and haven’t seen my soldier yet…

I have finally arrived to our base camp. There are so many soldiers coming and going. I am filling my heart with love. Everyone is happy to see me and giving me great big hugs! I am still looking for my soldier…

Breakfast in the chow hall today was good. I saw Freddy Flamingo. He isn’t in my platoon, but I saw him briefly. How did he get the combat gear? I wish I had some, I would feel more a part of my soldiers if I looked more like them like he does.

I got to go out on a mission today with my military team. We drove in the Up-armored HUMMVEE and I felt very safe. The children love us and I got to stop and give hugs to them along the way. They talk different, but love is a universal language so we understood each other quite well.

I am still looking for my soldier but everyone has been very nice to me. Freddy Flamingo was given a medal today at a ceremony. The Commander pinned it on him for saving three baby bird’s lives. I am very proud of him and we are all grateful that he is so brave!

My heart is almost full and it is almost time for me to come home to you. I am excited and cannot wait to be held in your arms for ever and always! Tomorrow I will see my soldier and my mission will be complete.

We drove by a Mosque today and I heard the Iraqi’s praying. It sounded beautiful and they all moved in unison. We are traveling far to see my soldier. I will leave here in two wake-ups.

All of the waiting was worth it. When my soldier saw me he came running and smothered me with so much love that we both cried. He loves you so much and wants me to bring all of his love back to you and keep you safe until he comes home.

Today is the day I leave all of my new friends behind. They are grateful to have met me and believe my mission was a great success. My soldier has been by my side since we reunited and now he holds me tight as I board my flight.

I will let you write the ending because I am now home with you!

I love you!
