On a farm there lived a little calf named Julie who was very curious always wandering away from her mother Betsy the cow. Now Betsy warned Julie about the dangers of getting lost and there might not be someone around to help her find her way home to the big old barn where all the animals gathered every night to sleep.

Well one day while Betsy and Julie were out in the beautiful green field eating the good green grass, little Julie wandered away again! As soon as Betsy noticed she was gone she began to look everywhere, over the hills, around the hills, and even under the hills, but she could not find Julie anywhere. Now Betsy was really worried!

She ran as fast as she could back to the barn to get the other animals to help find Julie. At the barn Betsy told Fred the horse, Elmer the pig, Billy the goat, all the chickens, and all the ducks that Julie had wandered away again and now she could not find her anywhere.

All the animals spread out over the farm searching high and low for Julie. Yet she was nowhere to be found! Just as the sun was beginning to set in the sky, Fred the horse went over a small hill and who do you think he saw?

Yes, Julie the wandering calf! Julie was stuck in a big mud hole so deep that she couldn't get out no matter how hard she tried. Fred looked around the place where Julie was stuck, but couldn't find anything to use to get her out.

Fred told Julie that he would go get some rope to pull her free and be back just as fast as he could. On his way back to the barn Fred met Betsy and told her where he had found Julie. Then they both ran to the barn for rope and tell the other animals.

Before long they were back at the mud hole to rescue Julie. Fred threw the rope around Julie then him and the other animals all took hold of it and pulled as hard as they could and finally pulled her free!

Later back at the barn all the animals gathered in for the night. Betsy and Julie thanked all the animals, Fred the horse, Elmer the pig, Billy the goat, all the chickens, and all the ducks as well for their help.

All the animals slept happily that night at the barn. Julie never wandered away again from her mother ever again. Where ever you saw Betsy Julie wasn't far away!

The End.
