A Lost Son

She was a single mother who gave birth at thirteen

Her mother also started very young, so you could say she carried on the legacy

She had a son though half the time she never saw him

She was still in Junior High, so her mother had to watch him

Her baby father ho was twice her age

Knew the words she yearned to hear

Never came to see his son

Soon as she gave birth, he disappeared

As the years went by the child rather quickly realized

The predestined role he was supposed to play through society’s eyes

The system was set up, straight from a dysfunctional home

But don’t get it wrong though, some do make it through the storm

Around the age of nine the only mother he had ever known

Was ripped away from him like a baby ripped from the womb

His birth mother fought for him in court and regained custody

By this time she had bore three more children 1… 2… and 3

She needed him to take care of them when ever she would go out

This little boy was forced to baby sit when he was still a baby himself

She was a party girl men all around drugs polluted her house

Introduced her children to so many unfamiliar “uncles” and dirty aunts

By the age of ten momma’s eldest son was selling drugs

He held his guns tight because he never knew the warmth of hugs

The older heads on the block taught him how to cheat the game

He learnt the ins and outs boy-scout mastered key tricks of trade

Cold- hearted and hard he became only showing love to his siblings

...

Then one day one of his mother’s drunk friends raped his sister

He ran up in his momma’s house where dude was still welcome

Brought him out back… put ten bullets in his back

‘Cause that’s how old his sister was when dude ripped through her threshold

It got cold, stopped talking to momma,

Wasn’t allowed to see his siblings, mad momma kept’ em from him

Told him that he was the devil and that he deserved to DIE!

And that if ever she heard the news, she promised him she wouldn’t cry

Around the same time his father came back into his life

But not as his father, pops really just wanted some drugs to buy

-and sell, but old dude didn’t know the first thing ‘bout flipping product

So daddy’s little boy became a papa to his father

Funny thing was he never knew who his daddy was

Daddy was dead to his momma, so that’s the story she told her eldest son

But Daddy knew and used the drug excuse to get closer

But one day a miscalculation caught up with some missing product

Brutal baby boy asked no question, just turned around and shot him

And with his last breathe he said “Son, I’m your father...

I’ve always loved you, responsibility was my problem!”

How could he have spilled blood from this body claiming to be his blood?

Shocked and stunned he just stood there for awhile then started to run

With no where else to go he went to his grandmother’s house to hide

She had not seen him since that day her daughter reclaimed her child

They had so much catching up to do,

“Thank God that you’re alright”

“But I’m not alright grandma I’ve grown up dead inside

So much blood is on my hands I couldn’t wash it off if I tried

Everyone I’ve ever loved is gone my own mother wants me dead

My whole life’s been dead wrong!”

She looked at him and said

“But baby you are still alive! You are just where God wants you, now let Christ reclaim your life.”

“God does not love me look at all the things that I have been through”

“You have been in the devil’s playground long enough, the time has come

For you to get down on your knees and pray hard my precious son

Remember when we used to pray together when you were young?”

“Yes, Grandma, I remember us praying”

“Ok then, just open up your heart and pray like that again.”

He gets down on his knees and begins to pray

“Father, I’ve been born into sin and shaped in iniquity

But now as I bow before you broken Lord I’m asking you to fix me

I’ve made so many mistakes Lord there is blood on my hands

Lord I ask you to forgive me though I am who I am

Lord, I don’t know how to pray, so I guess… this is it

Though, I don’t know what to do, Jesus my heart’s legit

Please help me Lord because I’m drowning in my own sins

Open up the door to your heart dear Lord

Please let me back in...”
