Frozen in her winless winter, Wrigley slumbers in the cold

Her world series record zero; her dry streak, a hundred years old.

Upon her chilly tundra, the echoes of the curses past

Resonate within her stands; upon our hearts, their mark is cast.

Long and gone are nights of pennant drink and dance

That came with double plays by Tinker, Evers, and Chance.

The West Side told the Story of the Windy City's greats

Who played their way to victory in the year of 1908

A century of waiting for the day to chase away the night

To bathe Chicago in a dawn of glory, with rays of baseball light.

To see the boys of summer, in their red, white, and blue

Ignite the hearts of champions, and fan the flames of hope for me and you.

Away with Bartmans, billy goats, and black cat ghosts

Away with Brock for Broglio, and colleges of coaches.

A new season comes, as green as the ivy wall

And with it comes the sweet sound of victory's call.

Rise up, Chicago Cubs, and the Windy City's loyal fans

Let curses and excuses melt away with a fresh summer at hand.

To the World Series this year, to pitch, hit, and win

And a hundred years of solitude will come to an end
