Author bio:
Strange name for an English bloke but nobody can choose their parents. Jo cannot remember being born but assumes he must have been. He has done a fair bit since, including working for a short while on a farm cultivating mushrooms. They were not magic, although, as if by magic, he always got a seat to himself on the bus home after work - work which included manually filling the wooden boxes, in which the mushrooms were grown, with exceedingly fresh horse manure. On balance, Jo prefers reading and writing books. Jo is the author of The Jeremy - Snaps Of The Dragon
The Jerk: An erotic tale of self-love by Geonn Cannon The Jerk: An erotic tale of self-love by Geonn Cannon March 08, 2012 20435 words Read a sample
Author bio:
Geonn Cannon was born in a barn and raised to know better than that. He was born and raised in Oklahoma where he’s been enslaved by a series of cats, dogs, two birds and one unexpected turtle. He’s spent his entire life creating stories but only became serious about it when he realized it was a talent that could impress girls. Learning to write well was easier than learning to juggle, so a career was underway. His high school years were spent writing stories among a small group of friends and reading whatever books he could get his hands on. Geonn was inspired to create the fictional Squire’s Isle after a 2004 trip to San Juan Island in Washington State. His first novel set on the island, On the Air, was written almost as a side project to another story he wanted to tell. Reception to the story was so strong that the original story was put on the back burner to deal with the world created in On the Air. His second novel set in the same universe, Gemini, was also very well received and went on to win the Golden Crown Literary Society Award for Best Novel, Dramatic/General Fiction. Geonn was the first male author to receive the honor. While some of his novels haven’t focused as heavily on Squire’s Isle, the vast majority of Geonn’s works take place in the same universe and have connections back to the island and its cast of characters (the exception being the Riley Parra series). In addition to writing more novels based on the inhabitants of Squire’s Isle, Geonn hopes to one day move to the real-life equivalent to inspire further stories. In his spare time, Geonn reads as much as possible and writes occasional TV and book reviews for Geek Speak Magazine.

Author bio:
Mr. Davito is an accomplished author and resides with his family near the Inter-coastal Waterway in eastern North Carolina. One of his passions is his old wooden sailboat, SV Jewel, and taking overnight sails with his faithful Lab, Seadog. It is during those jaunts he can contemplate the mysteries of life under a starlit sky and allow the seeds of his stories to take root. His sustenance generally consists of a good cigar and a bottle of grappa. Research and personal experience are the foundation of his stories. “Webs of Deceptions” is his first foray into erotic fiction and he has a prequel and sequel under development. They are based on the tenth commandment theme of coveting other men’s wives. Depending on the reception of this novella, he will publish them under the pen name of D. L. Davito.

In the end, I thought it would be a tragedy, but it was not a tragedy.' Personal information about the author? Denied, but my flower is the passion flower. Interpret it as you please.

Author bio:
My name is Lori Meyer. I am a mother of two and an elementary teacher. During the 2008 – 2009 school year, through the enthusiastic encouragement of my classroom full of fourth graders and my own two daughters, I decided to create a story from a dream I had had. And from that dream a series grew and also a spin off. From the day I started on that journey of creating a story from a dream, I found I couldn’t help but become hooked. They say once you are bitten by the writing bug it becomes a part of you. I found that to be true and have been writing ever since. I have always been an avid reader, with my favorite stories involving sexy vampires and fierce shape-shifters. But now I find even more enjoyment in creating my own characters and stories. I am still hoping to catch an agent’s eye so that I can get published in print. But until that happens, I’ll continue writing my characters’ stories and hope someday they will be shared.

Ronnica is a Kansas native who currently lives in Raleigh, North Carolina. In high school, she was the nerdy type and enjoyed taking part in Science Olympiad as well as the school band. As you might guess, she also really enjoyed journaling, a habit she still keeps up today. After graduating from Maize High School, she moved to Norman, Oklahoma to study meteorology at the University of Oklahoma. Two majors later, she graduated with a history degree. While in college, Ronnica made lifelong friends at the Baptist Student Union, where she also started to learn what it truly meant to be a follower of Christ. After college, Ronnica moved to North Carolina to attend Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, where she received a masters of divinity in Christian ministry. Though she had always planned on moving west when she graduated, she got "stuck" in Raleigh thanks to her church where she learned what it meant to live in community with one another. Ronnica has blogged for years which has increased her love of writing (and hopefully her skill). She also enjoys reading and crocheting in her free time.

The Jungle Mess by Robert Mason The Jungle Mess by Robert Mason May 22, 2012 1047 words Read a sample
Author bio:
Robert has always had an active imagination, which he usually expressed in drawings and doodles, but it wasn't until 2007 that he actually started putting pen to paper (letters to laptop really). Robert started out writing short stories with little life messages in them. He finished his first full length novel, The Bully Affect, in 2008, the focus of which was also a life lesson. Bullying. A writing contest was the inspiration for his novella, The Tombstone Stranger. Written in less then two weeks and told from the prespective of a young boy growing up in the wild west the narration proved quite challenging. "To talk with a drawl or accent is one thing, but to write that way was a lot harder then I thought it would be, but I think that is part of the charm of the story," Robert says. His next novel, Zoey Zimmerman and the Zombie Pigeon, was nearly two years in the making. This tale of a young girl that can talk to animals also has a fundamental life lesson at the heart, friendship. "I really enjoy writing stories for young readers. If you can keep their interest with a good story and sneak in some important messages all the better." Robert resides in Glendale, Arizona with his beautiful wife Jennifer, step-daughter Ashley, son Branden and daughter Emma.

Author bio:
I've been writing stories almost since I was able to pick up a jumbo crayon and put words on paper. I love what I do and I feel blessed to have the opportunity to share these tales with my readers. My work is typically classified as young adult literature, if only because the stories are clean and most of the characters are young. There's more to it than that, though. Every book I've ever personally loved has been what I'd call ageless. That is, it contains something that can touch the heart of a child while he's still too young and raw to appreciate subtlety, but there's also something in it that he can still feed on when he's old and gray, although perhaps not the same things. It's my aspiration to write stories like that. In fact, the majority of my readers are adults who want to read something that will uplift them and make them feel glad to be alive that day. We all need beautiful stories, and without them we suffer. If you'd like to know more about me or my work, please visit my official author's website at www.williamwoodall.org

The Killer In The Back Seat by Drac Von Stoller The Killer In The Back Seat by Drac Von Stoller April 20, 2012 484 words Read a sample
Author bio:
Drac Von Stoller's imagination and fascination for the Horror genre began when he was a little boy watching his favorite actors such as Vincent Price, Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee and Bela Lugosi on his little black and white television alone in his dark room. Drac would watch these horror movies for hours and build model kits of his favorite characters like Dracula, the Wolfman, Frankenstein and even the Munster's car from his favorite television series. Then as time went on and nothing was left to the imagination in the new horror movies, Drac still loved watching the old movies he so loved as a little boy. Then as Drac became an adult he decided one day that he would write a short story in the horror genre and let some of his friends read it and see what they thought. Drac's first short story was titled "Death in the Wilderness," which would be considered flash fiction but this would be Drac's test to see if he was destined to be an author. Sure enough when people read "Death in the Wilderness" they loved it but couldn't understand why Drac didn't keep on with the story but Drac knew all along that if what they read was so good then Drac has succeeded. This gave Drac the confidence he needed to keep on writing more and more short stories. The rest is history Drac has now written 31 short stories in the course of a 2 year span. Drac doesn't want to write a story unless it moves him in a way that he would want to read his own work and say any horror or ghost fan would not be disappointed.

A native of Southern California, Christine Pope has been writing stories ever since she commandeered her family’s Smith-Corona typewriter back in the sixth grade. Her short fiction has appeared in Astonishing Adventures, Luna Station Quarterly, and the journal of dark fiction, Dark Valentine. Her paranormal novella, Playing With Fire, was released on August 5, 2010, followed by Sympathy for the Devil in December 2010. Releases for 2011 included Breath of Life, a science fiction reinterpretation of the classic Beauty and the Beast story, and Bad Vibrations, a paranormal romance romp featuring a psychic, a ufologist, and alien conspiracies. Not one for being pigeonholed into just one sub-genre of romance, Christine Pope writes as the mood takes her, and her work encompasses paranormal romance, fantasy, horror, science fiction, and historical romance. She blames this on being easily distracted by bright, shiny objects, which could also account for the size of her shoe collection. After spending many years in the magazine publishing industry, she now works as a freelance editor and graphic designer in addition to writing fiction. She lives with her husband and an explosively fluffy Pomeranian mix in the San Gabriel Valley of Southern California, and in fact just returned to the town where she was born, thus disproving the theory that you can’t go home again.

Stephanie Draven is currently a denizen of Baltimore, that city of ravens and purple night skies. She lives there with her favorite nocturnal creatures–three scheming cats and a deliciously wicked husband. And when she is not busy with dark domestic rituals, she writes her books. Stephanie has always been a storyteller. In elementary school, she channeled Scheherazade, weaving a series of stories to charm children into sitting with her each day at the lunch table. When she was a little older, Stephanie scared all the girls at her sleepovers with ghost stories. She should have known she was born to hold an audience in her thrall, but Stephanie resisted her writerly urges and graduated from college with a B.A. in Government. Then she went to Law School, where she learned how to convincingly tell the tallest tales of all! A longtime lover of ancient lore, Stephanie enjoys re-imagining myths for the modern age. She doesn’t believe that true love is ever simple or without struggle so her work tends to explore the sacred within the profane, the light under the loss and the virtue hidden in vice. She counts it amongst her greatest pleasures when, from her books, her readers learn something new about the world or about themselves. Stephanie also writes historical fiction as Stephanie Dray and has a series of forthcoming novels from Berkley Books featuring Cleopatra’s daughter.

I am an education consultant who works for state government in the area of curriculum. Prior to my current job, I taught American and world history at a number of colleges and universities in California, Georgia, and South Carolina. I started writing fiction in graduate school. In addition to my novels and short works, I have written a lot of serialized fantasy fiction that has been posted on the Story Hour forum at the Dungeons & Dragons fan site EnWorld.org, including stories placed in the Forgotten Realms, Shackled City, and Rappan Athuk settings. These stories have collectively received over two thousand reader posts and three hundred thousand page views. I am also an active member of the player community for the multiplayer computer game Neverwinter Nights, and have released over two dozen modules for that game on the Neverwinter Vault Web site. My doctorate is in European history, and I live with my wife, who is an attorney, in Sacramento, California.

There isn't much to say. I'm a 24 year old Romanian who has been writing poetry since 6 years old. All the english I currently know is from watching cartoons and movies. Due to the fact that the Eastern Block countries are, or have been severely disconnected from the rest of the world, I could only peak at it through television, and later on the computer, and had no possible means to get my hands on books written in English, thus, to date, I have never read a book in English. I plan to fix that as soon as I can, but until then, I ask moderation in my readers and critics' minds. The reason I write books in English, is because I want them to be the key between my world, and the one I have always looked at with the desire to inhabit. Previous jobs would include hauling crates, digging ditches and graves ( I lived across the street from a graveyard where we used to play hide and seek), dog training and an assortment of odd jobs that are better left unmentioned.

The Lake Story by James Pratt The Lake Story by James Pratt June 10, 2011 910 words Read a sample
Author bio:
James Pratt likes to create realistically flawed but basically decent characters and have them cross paths with serial killer angels, redneck vampires, slithering horrors from other dimensions, and the end of the world. He also likes to write stories that demonstrate how the ever-present darkness threatening to wash over the world like a wave of endless night can be held back with a little courage and a big shotgun (assuming one hasn't already used both barrels, of course). Some take place in the distant past, others in the far future, and still others somewhere between eight minutes ago and twelve minutes from now. Whether sci-fi, adventure, or straight-out horror, the running theme is that the universe is very, very big and we are very, very small.
